SEMENTAL LAMP
14"l x7"d x 21"h
white glazed terracotta
Four slender legs support the body — a form pulled from the earliest images we have of animals, the horses and hounds sketched in ochre on cave walls thousands of years before language had words for them. Left open to read as either.
Finished entirely in white glaze over terracotta, the piece reads as bone, chalk, or pigment-bleached stone depending on the light. The cord doubles as the animal's tether, looping from its neck down to the floor — a leash, a rein, the thing that ties a wild form to a room. The light is dimmable via an in-line switch on the cord.
Handbuilt terracotta.
One of a kind.
