A stack of bowls. The subject came from the studio. Vessels waiting to be used. The color came from somewhere else entirely: water lilies, that specific mauve-lavender against deep green that Monet kept returning to.
The brushwork is direct and unresolved in the best way. Paint that still reads as paint, forms that hold their shape without being fussy about it.
Oil on canvas, floated in a natural light oak aluminum frame.
